What features take into account Covid-related issues?
Plumbing Items: Automatic (touchless) flush toilets, faucets, soap dispensers & hand dryers in all toilet rooms Provides bottle filling stations in lieu of traditional water fountains
HVAC Items: Enhanced filtration systems for new HVAC units (HEPA) Adjusted temperature and humidity settings in HVAC systems to decrease growth and lifespan of bacteria
Electrical Items: Increased wifi bandwidth to handle potential surges in use Provides hardware/software, and setup required for distance learning and streaming of lectures, programs, etc. We will consider movable UV racks (or similar technology) to sanitize books, laptops, rooms, etc. (see below)
Facility & Building Design: Clear social distancing signage in areas where people congregate Automatic sliding doors at main entrance Touchless door openers at frequently used locations Hand sanitizing stations. At entrances, provide wall mounted disinfecting stations with instructions. Sanitizing wipe dispensers Easily accessible hand wash sink in Children’s Room to encourage good hygiene Ability to seal off areas of the Library for deep cleaning while other parts open Use of inherently anti-microbial interior finishes All new furniture and surfaces designed for ease of cleaning and sanitizing Privacy/sneeze guards at computer stations and other public areas Color coding of auditorium seating for social distancing
We will review and evaluate cutting edge technologies, including ways to sanitize materials, thermal scanning, UV sanitizing lighting, and other systems between now and the final design of the building. This is a rapidly evolving field of engineering and public health: we will use the best, proven, technologies available at the time of construction.
